Georgian 14K Gold Mourning Ring | Sepia Miniature Under Crystal | Hair Work Woman & Lamb Memorial Jewelry (Size 8.5)

This exceptional Georgian 14k gold mourning ring features a beautifully preserved sepia miniature beneath its original crystal cover. The finely painted scene depicts a woman holding a lamb, an allegorical symbol of innocence, devotion, purity, and sacrificial love that was deeply resonant in late 18th–early 19th century memorial art.

What makes this ring extraordinarily rare is the incorporated hair work, not simply placed under the glass but delicately worked into the sepia pigments themselves, forming part of the lamb’s fleece. This elite-level technique was practiced by only a handful of specialist mourning artists of the Georgian period and is seldom encountered in pieces surviving in such remarkable condition.

The miniature remains crisp, clear, and richly detailed, protected by its domed crystal. The gold bezel shows only minor age-related wear consistent with its age and does not detract from the artwork. The ring remains in unusually fine condition overall, especially for a piece over two centuries old, and its large size 8.5, increases its desirability to collectors seeking wearable Georgian mourning jewelry.

This is a museum-level example of sentimental art from the Georgian era, highly sought after for its artistry, symbolism, and exceptional preservation.

Beautifully presented in a ribbon-wrapped gift box, suitable for gifting, collecting, or curating an advanced collection of mourning or Georgian jewelry.

To ensure your shopping experience is smooth, please review our shop policies and FAQ regarding returns before purchase. We want you to shop with confidence.

It is important to note that you should not get this ring wet. Always remove it before washing your hands or showering. The glass cover is secure, however it is possible for water to seep inside the frame and damage the pristine painting within.

    Layaway

    LAYAWAY TERMS

We’re happy to offer interest-free layaway on pieces over $200.

A 25% non-refundable deposit reserves your item, and the remaining balance may be paid over up to 90 days.

Because each piece is one-of-a-kind, timely payments are important. Missed payments without prior arrangement may void the layaway and forfeit the deposit. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days of a due date, the layaway will be considered abandoned.

All layaway purchases are final sale with no returns or exchanges.

By starting a layaway, buyers agree to these terms.

    Sizing details

We do not offer in-house sizing at this time.

Because each ring is unique in its age and construction, the ability to size varies by design and stone setting. Many pieces can be adjusted within two sizes, though this is only a general guideline.

We recommend having any sizing done by a trusted local jeweler, ideally one who uses a laser welder, as antique gold and historical settings often require specialized care.

If you’d like us to help coordinate third-party sizing for an additional fee, please reach out before purchasing.

Please note that all sizing performed by any jeweler or third party is at the buyer’s discretion and is non-refundable.

When an item has been reviewed by our local GIA Graduate Gemologist, that assessment will be clearly noted in the listing.

Our goal is to provide information you can trust and to help you shop with confidence.
